Our Vision

BridgeBuilders facilitates an encounter across cultural boundaries, where the setting and content stimulates reflection and conversation about identity, prejudices and conflict resolution. We wish to educate young people and impart to them experiences and tools that can increase their possibilities and their own motivation for becoming agents for peace.

– Creating a base for mutual reconciliation between participants from the Middle East with the involvement of
young Norwegians.
– Increasing knowledge and understanding of the respective counterparts.
– Preserving and strengthen the unity believers have in Jesus.
– Educating agents for peace.

We believe in focusing on youth. They represent the present as well as the future. The youth of today will be the leaders of tomorrow in their societies, and it is therefore of the utmost importance that they develop and internalize healthy attitudes.

The Christian doctrine teaches the inherent value of every single human being. All humans have equal value in spite of differences in ethnicity, nationality and religious beliefs. However, this project seeks to focus especially on one specific group – the Christians in the Middle East. On both the Palestinian and Israeli sides the Christians are minorities in their societies and often face extra challenges in an already challenging environment. The participants shared faith is a natural common platform for mutual acknowledgement, and will function as a useful starting point for dialogue and reconciliation. The Bible gives us all a challenge to walk in a manner worthy of the calling which we have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace (Ephesians 4:1-3).

It is our belief, and our intention the insights and experiences gained through the BridgeBuilders project will have a ripple effect and serve the cause of peace and reconciliation in the Middle East.
